33 % VISITOR RATIO INCREASE

Although the recession also left its mark on Brussels-based European Meetings Industry Fair, there are plenty of positive developments to be seen when looking back on its latest edition. With 2518 visitors, EMIF saw a slight decline in visitor numbers as opposed to the 2009 edition of the exhibition. However, with fewer exhibitors on the show floor, the amount of visitors per exhibitor has significantly increased. Also taking into account the Facts on Acts exhibitors during Day 2; EMIF 2010 experienced a visitor ratio increase of 33% compared to 2009, from 12 visitors per exhibitor to 16.

With a relaxed yet buzzing atmosphere on 17 & 18 March in Tour & Taxis, most exhibitors were quite content with the results. Some even called it “the best edition in the history of EMIF”. Also, all parties agreed that the actual quality of visitors was higher than ever before. Responses from trade visitors, Association delegates and Hosted Buyers were also positive; many were impressed with the excellent seminar programmes and the broad range of exhibitors on the show floor.

The fact that people could not get enough of EMIF was also illustrated by the turn-up during the VIP Evening. A jam-packed VIP Lounge accommodated for approximately 700 people enjoying the VIP Diamond Party on 17 March.

Another successful initiative was the brand new Facts on Acts Pavilion. Marlies Linssen, owner of Media Archive – publisher of Facts on Acts Magazine – was delighted with the results: “Exhibitors were impressed with the sheer quality of visitors. Many have already expressed a desire to participate again next year; preferably in larger stands”.

Positive results from a vast amount of new partnerships were also visible during the show. A much-appreciated Association Programme, a good turn up during the corporate seminars and several association and exhibitor drinks all over the show floor contributed to the optimistic vibe.

All in all, despite the tough times demanding modesty, EMIF 2010 yet again proved its value as an indispensable platform for the Meetings Industry.
